In January 2024, Steven became the Director of Water Resources at the San Antonio River Authority where he supervises the Engineering and Environmental Sciences departments. Together, they are dedicated to monitoring, assessing, and enhancing water quality and flood mitigation efforts within the San Antonio River Basin.

Steven served as a Combat Engineer in the US Army and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He possesses a Professional Engineer’s license with an emphasis in Water Resources Engineering, specializing in hydraulics systems and flood management efforts. Steven’s professional credentials also include Project Management Professional, Envision Sustainability Professional, and Certified Construction Manager.

Before joining the San Antonio River Authority, Steven’s extensive experience spans 25 years in the private and public sectors, including significant roles at the Tarrant Regional Water District and the Trinity River Authority of Texas. His expertise in flood management and hydraulic system operations, coupled with his leadership in implementing Capital Improvement Plans, underscores his comprehensive understanding of water resource management.

Steven continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at improving water quality and bolstering flood resilience in the region. His diverse skill set and unwavering dedication to excellence position him as a key figure in the water resources industry.

SASPAMCO Paddling Trail Temporarily Closed

Staff have removed two large log jams just downstream of Helton Nature Park, keeping the southern portion of the SASPAMCO Paddling Trail temporarily closed. Staff are working to contact adjacent landowners to support a land-based removal solution.

The SASPAMCO paddling trail is open from River Crossing Park to Helton Nature Park.
*Please Note: Paddling Trail from Helton Nature Park to HWY 97 is still closed due to blockages.
