SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) announced today that it is taking safety measures to reduce crowds and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) during the 4th of July Weekend. The River Authority will temporarily close some of its parks entirely as well as some large gathering areas along the river from the morning of Friday, July 3 through the morning of Monday, July 6.
Hike and bike trails along the Museum Reach and Mission Reach sections of the San Antonio River Walk as well as the San Pedro Creek Culture Park remain open for recreational use. Mask wearing and social distancing are strongly encouraged while on the trails. The paddling trails along the King William and Mission Reach sections of the San Antonio River Walk also remain open for use with personal paddling equipment. The temporary July 4th Weekend closure impacts the following parks and park amenities operated by the River Authority in Bexar County:
- Confluence Park (310 W. Mitchell St.)
- Porciones de la sección Mission Reach del paseo del río San Antonio
- Pavilion along the river near Roosevelt Park
- Portal de Concepción y espacio verde contiguo cerca del Parque de la Concepción
- Pavilion along the river between Theo Ave. and Mission Rd.
- Pavilion at Mission Rd.
- Pavilion along the river between Mission Rd. and Roosevelt Ave.
- Pavilion along the river near Padre Park
- Mission Parkway desde SE Military hasta Villamain, incluido Espada Park, Acequia Park y Acequia Pavilion
- Pavilion along the river at Camino Coahuilteca near Mission Espada
- River Crossing Park (6890 South Loop 1604 E.)

- John William Helton San Antonio River Nature Park (15662 FM 775)
