World Water Day Scavenger Hunt
Last month, we celebrated Dia Mundial del Agua with activities throughout the weekend that included trivia, an activity bag giveaway at Parque de la Confluencia, and a public art scavenger hunt along the San Antonio River. Our participants had fun learning about the importance of water while exploring the city!
Today, we want to share with you one participant’s recorded adventure. Follow along with @thealamobasement as he documents his journey through the seven stops that encompassed Alcance del museo, Parque Cultural San Pedro Creek, and Concepción Park on the Alcance de la misión. We asked @thealamobasement why he joined this event, “I really find the number of new activities put out by the River Authority to be inspiring and motivating to get out and be a part of the San Antonio community. For a long time I did these activities on my own where I would kayak or see the cultural sites but to have an event sponsored I get to meet new people and sometimes come across a part of the river I never knew about. I refer people to the River Authority website all the time to get updated with cool date ideas or even family fun days.”
While the event may be over, we encourage you go on your own scavenger hunt with your friends and family to learn about the history and culture of the San Antonio River. You can find the map aquí.
National Volunteer Month
April is National Volunteer Month and we’d like to recognize some of the vibrant and awesome people that are river proud all year long! Even though the program pivoted to a virtual platform because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the River Authority Guerreros del río were unstoppable. They participated in various virtual trainings throughout the year that included water quality monitoring, beaver dam erosion control projects, and invasive species removal efforts. We’re always looking for new recruits so check out our website to learn more and sign up today!
