This piece is contributed by the San Antonio River Foundation. The River Foundation is the nonprofit partner of the San Antonio River Authority. The River Foundation supports scientific and educational activities that promote and encourage the conservation, stewardship, restoration, preservation and enjoyment of the land and water resources of the San Antonio River Basin.

Contemporary Art Month 2024

Every year during March, we celebrate Contemporary Art Month (CAM) in San Antonio! This celebration offers artists, performers and curators the platform to show the best our community offers at galleries, museums, performing arts spaces, schools, artist studios and various unconventional locations around the city. Join the River Foundation at these events throughout CAM at Confluence Park and San Pedro Creek Culture Park!

Saturday, March 9: Sonic Transmission

Sonic Transmission

Enjoy a night of immersive sonic exploration through music and a community art market at Confluence Park on March 9 from 6:00 – 11:00 PM. This program is part of the San Antonio River Foundation’s Art in the Open initiative to provide vibrant art experiences along the San Antonio River and engage the public with contemporary art. The performances are made possible in part by a generous grant from the Russell Hill Rogers Fund for the Arts.

Carly Garza, "Let Us Rest" Art Installation

From 12:00 – 5:00 PM, visit Confluence Park to view Carly Garza’s new embroidery work inspired by the resilience of the Palestinian people and the exhaustion of living in a dystopian world. This program is made possible by the City of San Antonio Individual Artist Grant, Get Creative SA, San Antonio River Foundation and supporters like you. Free and open to the public.

Sumi Ink Workshop with Carly Garza

Join Carly Garza from 12:00 – 2:00 PM for a FREE Sumi Ink Club Workshop inside the Estela Avery Education Center. Guests will collaborate on a giant drawing, using their first instincts and Sumi ink. Free with donations accepted to help cover workshop materials and supplies.

Wednesday, March 27: San Pedro Creek Culture Park Public Artist Panel at Texas Public Radio

Join artists of San Pedro Creek for an evening at Texas Public Radio (321 W Commerce St). Panel discussion begins at 7:00 PM, followed by an afterglow with live music and poetry. Doors at 6:30 PM. Free to attend.

Friday, March 29: Sounds on the River, An Evening with Mark Farina

Sounds on the River celebrates culture and sustainability, featuring legendary mushroom jazz and veteran house music DJ Mark Farina. Mark Farina is a name that rings out across the entire global music community. Stem Density Efforts

Please be advised that trails near the Confluence Park and Conception Park area will be temporarily closed due to ongoing Stem Density efforts. Gas Spill

The San Antonio River Authority and the City of San Antonio are actively working to contain a recent gas spill in the Downtown River Walk Loop area, which occurred earlier today. The source of the spill is unknown but has stopped. At this time, no environmental impacts have been observed, and teams are implementing measures to fully contain and remove the substance. We will provide updates as the situation develops.

West Bank Trail Closure Notice

Due to the construction of a new trail and bridge, the West Bank of the trail between Schiller St. and Newell St. will be closed for the next couple of months. The East Bank will also be intermittently closed on Monday, November 4th, to install the bridge. Please use caution when navigating around this area. We apologize for any inconvenience.

San Pedro Creek Culture Park

The restrooms at South Alamo will be temporarily closed for maintenance and repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. 

Acequia Trail Notice

The Acequia trail will have heavy traffic near MROC starting May 22nd until further notice. The SAWS Acequia project will be bringing in crews to work on the lift station site and across the street. There will have flaggers to stop traffic, please use caution. 

SASPAMCO Paddling Trail

The SASPAMCO paddling trail is open from River Crossing Park to Helton Nature Park.
*Please Note: Paddling Trail from Helton Nature Park to HWY 97 is still closed due to blockages.
