What is your favorite section of the San Antonio River?/¿Cuál es su sección favorita del Río San Antonio?

Bikers enjoying the Mission Reach San Antonio River Walk segment

My favorite section of the San Antonio River is the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River Walk because of its thoughtful history and peaceful nature. The project connects to the San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site while providing recreational amenities for the community to enjoy the San Antonio River and the restored habitat.

Of all the River Authority’s current safe, clean, and enjoyable projects and efforts, which do you think is the most impactful or inspiring?

In my opinion, the most impactful and inspiring projects are the ones that have focused on the San Antonio River tributaries, such as the Westside Creeks in San Antonio, which contribute to making these creeks and the river more enjoyable. The work on these ecosystem restoration and trail projects has brought pleasure and enjoyment to area families, and through community participation, they also provide hope and motivation as the public learns more about the importance of these creeks.

Why is it important to be stewards of the San Antonio River Basin and protect area creeks and rivers?

It is extremely important to be good stewards of the San Antonio River Basin and protect area creeks and rivers. Improving the health of the ecosystems within the basin is of critical importance. We can all do our part to keep waterways clean and safe and protect the river and natural habitats.

The River Authority has an Education and Engagement team that provides training and resources to area teachers as well as conducts field trips and presentations that reach school-aged children throughout our service district to help inspire our future generations to become stewards of area natural resources. The public can also visit the River Authority website for useful information and positive actions everyone can take to show their river pride.
